On a tragic day in Bristol, Tennessee, the life of 39-year-old Toshya Millhorn was cut short in a brutal act of violence that also claimed the lives of two other family members. The Caucasian woman, her 36-year-old husband James Millhorn, and her 57-year-old mother Lena Rose, were shot and killed on August 29, 2015. The horrific events unfolded in their Henson Road home, forever altering the lives of those who knew them.
The perpetrator of this devastating crime was Toshya's own son,
19-year-old Robert Seth Denton. Armed with a rifle, Denton entered the family's mobile home and opened fire, ending three lives in a matter of moments. The tragedy was compounded by the presence of six children in the home, five of whom were Denton's half-siblings. These children, ranging in age, witnessed the horrific events, and one 7-year-old girl was injured during the rampage.
In the aftermath of the killings, Denton was swiftly apprehended and faced the consequences of his actions. He was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, in addition to aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment. During his trial, Denton attempted to shift the blame, accusing his grandfather, Curtis Rose, of being the shooter. However, the evidence and testimony presented in court overwhelmingly pointed to Denton's guilt.
Ultimately, a jury found Robert Seth Denton guilty on all counts in January 2019. For the murders of his mother, stepfather, and grandmother, he received two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, with an additional five years added to his sentence.
