In the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, a tragic incident cut short the life of 13-year-old LeTara Jones on January 4, 2016. The young African American girl was inside a Corning Village Apartments unit when a gun was discharged in the apartment directly above. A single bullet traveled through the floor and fatally struck LeTara. The stray bullet also grazed a three-month-old infant who was nearby, though the baby's injuries were not life-threatening.
