LeTara Jones, a 13-year-old girl from Memphis, TN, tragically lost her life on January 4, 2016. She was a young African American girl whose death sent shockwaves through her community. The incident occurred in the Corning Village Apartments in the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis. According to police reports, LeTara was accidentally shot when a gun discharged in an upstairs apartment. The bullet traveled through the floor and struck her, also grazing a three-month-old baby who was nearby.
