On a Halloween night in 2016, Gary Wade Lackey Jr., a 46-year-old White male, was found dead in the front yard of a home in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The Wilson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene in the 300 block of Benders Ferry Road after receiving several 911 calls. Lackey, a decorated Persian Gulf War veteran, had been fatally shot.
Investigators believe an altercation occurred inside the residence before the shooting.
Authorities have stated that they do not think the killing was a random act. The medical examiner officially ruled Lackey's death a homicide. He was a father of three and a graduate of Whites Creek Comprehensive High School. He had served in the United States Army for over two years.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Gary Wade Lackey Jr. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or released information about a possible motive in the years following his death. The case remains unsolved.
