In what appeared to be a tragic end to a long-standing friendship, 35-year-old Rigoberto Riso Hernandez, a Hispanic male, was found deceased on March 27, 2022. The incident unfolded on Couchville Pike, near the county line between Rutherford and Wilson in the Mount Juliet, Tennessee area. An investigation into his death revealed that he had been shot multiple times.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the case, a man named Jorge Reyes.
The investigation, led by detectives from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, pointed to the 43-year-old Reyes, who was not only an acquaintance but was described as a very good friend of Hernandez. Investigators learned that both men lived in the Couchville Pike area. Based on evidence gathered through multiple interviews and a review of the crime scene, an arrest warrant was issued for Reyes, charging him with first-degree murder.
Immediately following the shooting, Jorge Reyes fled the scene, sparking an extensive manhunt. Sheriff's deputies from both Rutherford and Wilson Counties scoured the area. The search efforts were significant, employing K9 units to track his scent, drones to provide an aerial view, and a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter to survey the landscape. Despite these exhaustive measures, Reyes managed to evade capture. Authorities believe he may have been heading toward Texas or Mexico, where he is known to have family. His information was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, and law enforcement continues to actively search for him in connection with the death of his friend.
