In the spring of 2017, the life of James Johnson Jr., a 53-year-old white male from Loudon, Tennessee, was brought to a violent and tragic end. On May 10th, Johnson was murdered in what investigators would later describe as a complex and disturbing plot. The events that unfolded revealed a plan set in motion by a woman who claimed Johnson owed her property and money.
The investigation into Johnson's death led to the arrests of three individuals: LaQueena Brown, Christopher Orr, and
Clarence Porter. It was determined that Brown was the orchestrator of the events that led to the murder, though she was not the one who pulled the trigger. She admitted to calling Orr and Porter to her aid to retrieve the property and money she alleged Johnson possessed. This call for assistance ultimately culminated in Johnson's death.
In the subsequent legal proceedings, LaQueena Brown entered a guilty plea to charges of facilitation of murder, aggravated burglary, and robbery. As a result of her plea, she was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison for her role in the crime. Christopher Orr and Clarence Porter, the two men Brown called for assistance, faced more severe charges of first-degree murder. Their trials were scheduled to take place in the summer of 2021 to determine their level of culpability in the death of James Johnson Jr. During the court proceedings, Johnson's sister and daughter provided emotional testimony, speaking to the profound and lasting impact his murder has had on their family.
