In the warm twilight hours of a July evening in St. Louis, Missouri, Patrick West, a 26-year-old man, was driving along Interstate 55. In the car with him were two of his young sons, ages four and six. What should have been an ordinary drive turned into a scene of terror when two vehicles pulled alongside West's car and unleashed a hail of gunfire.
