Jerrel Barber, a 57-year-old man from Decaturville, Tennessee, was tragically shot and killed on October 14, 2018, at Beech Bend Park. Barber had been living at the campground for a couple of weeks and had previously been involved in an altercation with another couple staying there. On the day of his death, Barber was approached by Jimmy Kevin Medlin, who was selling firewood at the campground. The situation escalated, and Medlin shot Barber multiple times, resulting in his death.
