missing person report with the Kansas City Police Department were initially dismissed, with officers allegedly stating that as an adult, she was not obligated to check in. Their worst fears were realized on August 4, 2017, when Blewett's body was discovered by a passerby along a tree line in the 5100 block of College Avenue. Investigators later determined she had been shot in the back of the head.
