Her friend on the phone heard her screams followed by two gunshots, and then silence. The authorities were called to the 5000 block of Colewood Avenue where they found Walker gunned down.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Memphis Police Department began their investigation, believing the incident stemmed from a domestic situation. They released a description of a person of interest: a Black male, approximately 5-foot-6 inches tall with a dark complexion, who was believed to have fled the scene in a gray Nissan. However, a name was not publicly released.
Despite the initial leads and the belief that the perpetrator was known to Walker, years have passed without any publicly announced arrests or the formal naming of a suspect in her murder. The case of Chaire Walker's death has grown cold, leaving her family and community still waiting for justice.
