In the spring of 2020, the life of a 30-year-old woman, Kristi Calli Breland, was tragically cut short in her Jonesborough, Tennessee, home. On the morning of April 12th, a distress call was made to 911 by her live-in boyfriend, Adam Joseph Decker, who initially claimed to have accidentally shot her. When deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrived at the residence on M Coffee Lane, they discovered Breland deceased in the kitchen.
Decker, who was 34 at the time, was present at the scene and was taken into custody for questioning. As investigators processed the home, they uncovered evidence that suggested a violent domestic altercation had occurred just before the fatal shot was fired. This evidence contradicted Decker's initial account of an accidental shooting. During questioning, Decker's story changed, and he eventually admitted to shooting Kristi during the course of an argument.
Following his confession and the evidence collected at the scene, Adam Joseph Decker was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kristi Calli Breland. He was subsequently booked into the Washington County Detention Center. His bond was set at $80,000, and he was scheduled for arraignment in General Sessions Court the following day.
