On July 9, 2021, Twuan West Jr., a 27-year-old Black man from Clarksville, was shot and killed at a Super 8 motel on Murfreesboro Pike in South Nashville. The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. during a prostitution-related argument with another man and a woman. According to police reports, West was killed at the scene, while the suspects fled the motel in an SUV.
