On June 30, 2022, Marquicha Thomas, a 28-year-old Black woman and mother of eight, was shot and killed at her home in Cordova, Tennessee. The tragic event unfolded following a heated argument with her boyfriend, 33-year-old Byron Pipkin. According to witnesses, the couple was arguing in the garage of their residence when Thomas attempted to flee. As she ran from the garage into the front yard, Pipkin fatally shot her.
