On a tragic summer morning in Martin, Tennessee, the life of 31-year-old Marcetta Rashae Ross was violently cut short. The African American woman was found deceased on North College Street on August 28, 2022, the victim of a shooting that authorities would later describe as a domestic disturbance that ended in a murder-suicide.
The events of that early Sunday morning began to unfold at Marcetta's residence at 504 N. College St. It was there that 18-year-old Camarri Harper of Union City reportedly tried to force his way into her home. In the ensuing chaos, Harper discharged a firearm into the house. Seeking safety, Marcetta fled from her home, running north along the street. Harper gave chase, and their desperate flight ended in front of another residence on North College Street, where both were later discovered deceased by the Martin Police.
