Police Captain James Edward Meehan, aged 40, was shot and mortally wounded on November 23, 1907, in Franklin, Pennsylvania. Captain Meehan, a male of Caucasian ethnicity, was patrolling his beat when he witnessed a suspect, along with two companions, attacking a man on the 13th Street Bridge. As he intervened, the suspect fled, but Captain Meehan managed to arrest his two companions.
