Patrolman James Albey, aged 26, was shot and killed on November 10, 1910, while investigating complaints in North East, Pennsylvania. Albey, who had only served with the North East Borough Police Department for one month, confronted four men who had boarded a streetcar, refused to pay, and were causing a disturbance.
