On a spring evening in Chester, Pennsylvania, the life of 21-year-old John Lacey was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On May 3, 2003, the Widener University junior was walking from his campus apartment to a nearby off-campus bar to buy beer. At approximately 11:30 p.m., while talking on his cell phone with his girlfriend, Lacey was accosted by two individuals in the parking lot of Walio's Frog Pond Café.
