Robin D. Shaffer, a 43-year-old woman and lifelong resident of Quakertown, PA, tragically died on June 15, 2005. She was the daughter of Kathryn Stecker and the late Robert Stecker. Robin was known for her love of horses and was a member of the Haycock Riding Club. She is survived by her mother, two daughters, Tiffany Baer and Tonia Shaffer, and several other family members.
Robin's death was the result of a violent incident. On the morning of June 15, 2005, Jeffrey Ogle, her estranged husband, shot her in the neck with a handgun at the Quakertown West Apartments. Ogle then fled the scene, leading to a massive manhunt involving multiple police departments, SWAT teams, and even state police helicopters. The manhunt ended when Ogle took his own life after being spotted by police in a wooded area.
The investigation revealed that Robin and Jeffrey Ogle had a rocky relationship. They had recently reconciled after a period of separation, but Robin had moved out of their shared home and into an apartment with another male just days before the incident. Ogle, who believed they would reconcile, was reportedly furious upon discovering that Robin had moved out.
Robin's death was ruled a homicide, and Jeffrey Ogle's death was ruled a suicide. The Bucks County Coroner confirmed that Robin died from a single gunshot wound to the neck, while Ogle died from a gunshot wound to the head.
