Mark Profit, an 18-year-old Black male from Minneapolis, was killed late on the night of September 25, 2015, in the Willard-Hay neighborhood on the city’s North Side. Just after 10:30 p.m., police were sent to the 1800 block of Newton Avenue North after a ShotSpotter alert reported gunfire. When officers arrived, they found him in front of a house with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner later publicly identified him.
