In the winter of 2012, a string of violent events in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, culminated in the death of 38-year-old William Harrison Rhodes Jr. On December 21st, Rhodes became one of three victims in a rampage perpetrated by Jeffrey Lee Michael, a 44-year-old local man.
The tragic day unfolded as Michael, reportedly troubled by personal issues and fixated on end-of-the-world predictions, embarked on a deadly course of action.
Before his encounter with Rhodes, Michael had fatally shot 58-year-old Kimberly Scott at the Juniata Valley Gospel Church and his 60-year-old neighbor, Kenneth Lynn, in his driveway.
Rhodes, who was Lynn's son-in-law, was intentionally targeted by Michael. While driving his pickup truck, Rhodes was rammed by Michael's vehicle on a rural road. The cause of his death was determined to be a combination of blunt force trauma from the collision and a gunshot wound.
Following the attacks, Michael engaged in a gunfight with state police. He was ultimately shot and killed by law enforcement. The Blair County District Attorney's office later ruled Michael's death a justifiable homicide, concluding the investigation into the tragic events of that day.
