Tyrone Moss, a 24-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on July 8, 2014, in Bristol, Pennsylvania. He was one of three victims in a brutal triple shooting that took place inside a home on the 900 block of Winder Drive. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 12:30 a.m., when Moss and two other men were attacked by armed intruders.
The shooting was part of a home invasion-style robbery.
The perpetrators, who were later identified as Demetrius Baker, Anthony King, and an unidentified accomplice, forced Moss and his friends to the ground and demanded money and valuables. During the robbery, the assailants shot Moss and Joshua Johnson, a 29-year-old man who was wheelchair-bound due to a previous shooting, in the head. Lamel Duffy, another 24-year-old victim, was shot in the back but managed to escape and seek help from a neighbor.
The investigation into the crime revealed that the robbery was motivated by the belief that there was a substantial amount of marijuana and cash inside the home. Baker, who was arrested in January 2016, confessed to his involvement and implicated the other two suspects. Baker was charged with multiple counts, including criminal homicide, conspiracy, aggravated assault, and robbery. He was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison and 10 years of probation.
Anthony King, who played a significant role in the robbery and shootings, was killed in a separate incident weeks after the Bristol Township shooting. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a building, which collapsed on him. Despite his death, the investigation continued, and Baker's testimony was crucial in securing a conviction against Eric Dillard, another accomplice.
