In the quiet early morning hours of August 7, 2014, a tragedy unfolded in a Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania apartment that would leave a family shattered. Christina Corrigan-Belajonas, a 28-year-old mother, was found dead in her home from a gunshot wound to the head and multiple stab wounds. The gruesome discovery was made after neighbors reported hearing a loud argument followed by a gunshot.
The initial horror of the scene was compounded by the fact that Christina's two young sons, aged four and five, were missing from the home. It was soon revealed that they had been taken by their father and Christina's husband, 32-year-old Keith Belajonas. Authorities believe the children witnessed their mother's murder, with one of the boys reportedly telling people that 'daddy killed mommy.' This initiated a frantic, multi-state manhunt and an Amber Alert was issued for the two boys.
The search for Keith and the children led investigators to Staten Island, New York. In the hours following the murder, Keith Belajonas drove to a CVS pharmacy where his half-brother worked. There, he left his two sons, who were tragically old enough to articulate the horror they had witnessed. After leaving the children, Keith's erratic flight from the law came to a grim end. As police closed in on his vehicle on a dead-end street, Keith Belajonas took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
In the aftermath, a motive of jealousy and marital strife came into focus. Investigators discovered a chilling Facebook post made by Keith Belajonas after he killed his wife, in which he accused her of cheating and chillingly declared, 'I won.' The investigation into Christina's death was closed following Keith's suicide. The couple's two sons were taken into the care of Christina's father.
