Indra Sheets, a 49-year-old woman from Cheltenham, PA, was tragically shot to death on March 5, 2015. She was found in the home she shared with Stanley W. Laing, a man she was believed to be in a relationship with. Sheets had been shot twice, and the incident was quickly classified as a domestic-related homicide.
Laing, who was 52 years old at the time, was identified as the primary suspect. He was described as a muscular black man, standing 6 feet tall with short gray hair and a full beard. Laing was last seen wearing a red plaid jacket, pants, and black boots. After allegedly shooting Sheets, Laing fled the scene in a white vehicle, believed to be a Ford Escape.
The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office charged Laing with first-degree murder and related offenses. However, before he could be apprehended, Laing was found dead in a vehicle in Philadelphia on March 7, 2015. A firearm was recovered near his body, and the investigation into his death was conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office.
