On a tragic Friday evening in Warrington Township, 53-year-old Laurie Ann Kepner's life was cut short in an act of domestic violence. On May 29, 2015, State Police were called to a residence on Lisburn Road to investigate a shooting. There, they discovered a grim scene with three individuals deceased in what was determined to be a double murder-suicide.
Laurie Kepner, a resident of West Manchester Township, was one of two women killed by 60-year-old Martin Kepner. The other victim was identified as 55-year-old Barbara Schrum of Dover. The York County Coroner's Office confirmed that Laurie Kepner died from a gunshot wound to the head. Barbara Schrum succumbed to trauma to the neck and a gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation concluded that Martin Kepner was the perpetrator of both homicides. After taking the lives of the two women, he died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident was a result of a domestic dispute, and with the suspect deceased, the case was closed.
Laurie was remembered as a good daughter, sister, and aunt who was always willing to help others. She was a self-employed seamstress and also worked at K & E Garage in Dover. Her family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a local domestic violence program.
