In the autumn of 2015, a quiet corner of Washington County, Pennsylvania, was shattered by a tragic event that began on a rural road and ended in a tense standoff. On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 13, 68-year-old Carolyn Mary Kern was found deceased in her vehicle on McNeeley Road near Strope Road in Jefferson Township.
