In the quiet community of Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania, a devastating series of events unfolded on April 22, 2016, ending in the tragic death of 40-year-old Kelly Detar. A mother and a manager at the Rillton Veterans of Foreign Wars club, she was found deceased in her home on Scott Haven Road from gunshot wounds to the head. Her death was officially ruled a homicide following an autopsy.
The primary suspect in her death was her 38-year-old husband, Anthony Detar. After Kelly's body was discovered, a search for Anthony ensued. He had fled the scene in his vehicle and was located by police later that day in a remote area of Forest County, approximately 125 miles away. When law enforcement attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Anthony Detar took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
