David Gombert, a 27-year-old male from Hazle Township, died on November 1, 2016, in McAdoo, Pennsylvania. He was shot outside the residence of Eric Mumaw, 29, of Kline Township, after an altercation that stemmed from Mumaw's anger over Gombert's relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Kirsten Kankowski. Mumaw sent a text message threatening to kill Gombert shortly before the incident.
