In the late hours of a Sunday night in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, 45-year-old Renae Johnson was found deceased on Wade Street. She was discovered lying near a van with its driver's side door open, having sustained gunshot wounds to her chest. An investigation into her death was promptly launched by the Aliquippa police.
Working as a jitney driver, Johnson had been in communication with 29-year-old Deshawn Williams shortly before her death. Phone records indicated that Johnson had called Williams, and surveillance footage showed her minivan arriving at his residence on Irwin Street. Investigators found that Williams had arranged for Johnson to pick him up.
Despite Williams' initial claims to police that Johnson never arrived, surveillance video showed him leaving his apartment around the time her van pulled up. Further investigation uncovered a witness who told police that Williams had called him and confessed to the killing, alleging that Johnson had attempted to rob him. A search of Williams' home resulted in the discovery of a stolen gun and ammunition.
Deshawn Williams was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal homicide, possession of a prohibited firearm, receiving stolen property, and carrying a firearm without a license. He was taken into custody and held at the Beaver County Jail without bond. While being escorted from the police station, Williams maintained his innocence, telling reporters, 'I didn't shoot her. I don't know what y'all talking about'.
