Brian R. Lupo, a 36-year-old male of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, tragically died on October 2, 2017, from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg. Lupo, a 10-year veteran of the naval police force and a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, was found shot in police headquarters shortly after reporting for duty.
He was also a 2008 Iraqi Freedom veteran.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., and Lupo was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The base commanding officer, Capt. Kyle Bryan, expressed deep sorrow over Lupo's death and extended condolences to his family.
State and local police were not involved in the case, as it was determined to be a self-inflicted incident. There were no arrests, suspects, litigations, or murder investigations related to his death.
Lupo's passing was a significant loss to his colleagues and the community, and his contributions as a dedicated officer and veteran were remembered with respect and gratitude.
