On a tragic Friday in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania, the lives of a mother and daughter were cut short in an act of domestic violence. Beth Schultz, a 47-year-old female, was fatally shot in her home on Curtin Street on November 24, 2017. Her 21-year-old daughter, Victoria, was also killed in the attack. A second daughter, Jessica, was shot as well but survived her injuries.
The perpetrator was identified as 26-year-old Cody Bush, who was Victoria's boyfriend. In the time leading up to the deadly shooting, Bush had been charged with harassment and stalking, and was out on bail for those offenses. The early morning of November 24th turned violent when Bush opened fire on the Schultz family, resulting in the deaths of Beth and Victoria, and the serious injury of Jessica.
After the shooting, Bush fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement. Later that day, he was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The small community of Osceola Mills was left in shock and mourning, holding candlelight vigils to remember the victims and support the grieving family. Friends and coworkers of Beth and Victoria remembered them as vibrant and cherished individuals.
