Tierees Owens, a 33-year-old man from Plymouth, PA, was fatally shot on September 27, 2018, outside Robby Nick’s Sports Bar on East Main Street. Owens was shot multiple times during an altercation and was later pronounced dead at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
State police identified Kyon Dane McDonald, 34, as the suspect and issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of criminal homicide.
McDonald, who was known as “Scoob,” was last seen wearing a green “Sprite” T-shirt, a green baseball hat, and blue jeans. He fled the scene in an older model white Jeep or a gold Cadillac sedan. McDonald had a limited criminal history, including DUI convictions and a disorderly conduct conviction.
The incident was captured on surveillance cameras at the sports bar, which showed McDonald discharging a handgun multiple times at Owens. The bar owner, Robert Nicoletti Jr., was present during the incident and witnessed McDonald shooting Owens. McDonald was the boyfriend of a former bartender at Robby Nick’s, which added a layer of complexity to the case.
The location of the shooting, Robby Nick’s Sports Bar, had a history of violence, with previous incidents occurring in 2017 and 2008. Despite the history of violence, the bar remained open until the fatal shooting of Owens. McDonald remained at large as of the last reports, and authorities continued their search for him.
