On September 13, 2019, 72-year-old Sam Gantt was found shot and killed inside his apartment in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Initially, it appeared that Gantt had died of natural causes, but further investigation revealed that he had sustained gunshot wounds to his head and right shoulder. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death a homicide.
