Nadège St. Preux, a 43-year-old woman, tragically lost her life on August 10, 2020, in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Following the murder, Cheatham took his own life at their residence in Meadowbrook Apartments. The bodies were discovered by the apartment management team after neighbors reported a foul odor, prompting police to enter the apartment.
Autopsies
conducted by Dr. Erica Williams of the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office determined that Ms. St. Preux died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, and the manner of death was ruled as homicide. Cheatham’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was ruled as suicide. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy announced these findings, expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
This case was identified as another instance of domestic violence or relationship homicide in Montgomery County, highlighting the ongoing issue of domestic violence. Authorities urged individuals in violent situations to seek help through available resources such as the Laurel House hotline and the Women’s Center of Montgomery County hotline.
There were no additional arrests, suspects, litigations, or ongoing investigations related to Nadège St. Preux’s death, as the primary suspect, her husband, had already died by suicide.
