In the small community of Edwardsville, Pennsylvania, a young boy's life was tragically cut short, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ten-year-old Connor J. Snitko, a Caucasian male, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born on March 16, 2010, to his parents Carrie Hinz and Sean Snitko, Connor was a fifth-grade student at State Street Elementary School.
He was known by his family and friends as a smart and caring boy with an amazing sense of humor. He had a passion for video games and amassed a collection of Nerf guns. A boy with a protective nature, he often spoke of his aspiration to become a soldier when he grew up, so he could keep everyone safe.
The circumstances surrounding Connor's death were the result of a shooting incident. Authorities investigating the case later deemed the shooting to be accidental. The Luzerne County District Attorney's office publicly stated that the boy was shot by accident. Due to the nature of the incident being ruled as accidental, there were no indications of foul play. Consequently, no arrests were made, and there were no suspects in connection with his death.
The unexpected loss of Connor was a devastating blow to his family and the Edwardsville community. He is survived by his mother, Carrie Hinz; his father, Sean Snitko; a sister, Allison Adams; as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. In his memory, his family requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nod to his own dreams of one day serving in the military. Though his time was brief, the memory of the cheerful boy who wanted to protect others continues to be cherished by his loved ones.
