Kashif Love, a 33-year-old man from Chester, PA, was tragically shot and killed on August 22, 2022, outside a property on the 1000 block of Ward Street. He was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The medical examiner's report confirmed that his death was a homicide.
Three suspects were identified in connection with Kashif Love's murder: Damar Macklin, Alexandra Watford, and Mahamadou Barrett.
Macklin was taken into custody shortly after the incident, while arrest warrants were issued for Watford and Barrett. Investigators found multiple 9 mm cartridge casings at the scene, linking the suspects to the shooting.
In December 2023, Alexandra Watford, 27, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and conspiracy charges related to Love's death. She is scheduled for sentencing on February 28, 2024. The other two suspects, Damar Macklin, 22, and Mahamadou Barrett, 29, are awaiting trial on charges including first- and third-degree murder, conspiracy, and firearms offenses.
The investigation revealed that Watford and Barrett were seen on video surveillance heading toward the intersection of 10th and Ward streets shortly before the shooting. Barrett allegedly began firing at Love multiple times, and Macklin joined in the shooting as Love attempted to flee. The suspects then fled the scene in separate cars.
The case has drawn significant attention, and law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to aid in the ongoing investigation. The community remains hopeful that justice will be served for Kashif Love and his family.
