On September 9, 2022, Dante Jones, a 34-year-old male from Verona, PA, was fatally shot outside the Exxon Station on Allegheny River Boulevard in Penn Hills. Jones had just finished pumping gas into his car when another vehicle pulled up beside him. An individual from that vehicle, later identified as Michael Wade, exited the car, approached Jones' vehicle, and opened fire, striking Jones multiple times. Michael Wade, a 36-year-old male with ties to the Penn Hills area and the North Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, was charged with criminal homicide in connection with Jones' death. An arrest warrant was issued for Wade, who was eventually located and arrested. Wade was later extradited from Georgia to face charges in Pennsylvania. He has been held in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting trial.
