Sergeant Robert L. Elliott, aged 36, of the Miami County Sheriff's Office in Troy, Ohio, tragically lost his life on February 25, 1987. He was shot and killed with his own weapon while guarding a prisoner inside Stouder Memorial Hospital. The incident occurred when the prisoner requested to take a shower and seized Sergeant Elliott's .357 revolver as Elliott removed the restraints.
