Eric Howard, a 20-year-old male from Youngstown, OH, tragically lost his life on September 2, 1991. He was one of four victims who were fatally shot in the head during an early morning incident at a house in Youngstown. The other victims included Alfonda Madison Sr., William Dent, and Theodore Wynn Jr.
The investigation into Eric Howard's death led to the arrest of William James Williams Jr., also known as "Flip."
Williams was charged with four counts of aggravated murder, four counts of kidnapping, and one count of aggravated burglary. The case revealed that at least three of the four fatal bullets were fired from Madison's .357 revolver, which was found at the scene.
During the investigation, Williams initially claimed that he and his girlfriend, Jessica Cherry, were involved in a car accident and that their car was fired upon by the occupants of the other vehicle. However, further questioning and evidence led to his arrest. Jessica Cherry was also questioned but was later released.
Dominic Cherry, Jessica's brother, turned himself into the police a few weeks later, providing additional information that contributed to the case. The trial was eventually moved to Summit County, and Williams was convicted on all charges. He was sentenced to death and was executed on October 25, 2005.
