On September 9, 2004, Anduan Dupree Smith, a 30-year-old Black male from Springfield, Ohio, was fatally shot outside a Citgo gas station located at 502 South Yellow Springs Street. Smith was standing in the parking lot when a black male, possibly exiting a teal or aqua-colored SUV, approached him and fired multiple shots, hitting Smith in the chest. Despite being transported to the hospital, Smith succumbed to his injuries.
