In the early hours of March 23, 2009, a violent home invasion in the Mexicantown neighborhood of Detroit shattered the lives of two brothers. Julio Diaz, a 37-year-old man originally from Vera Cruz, Mexico, was fatally wounded during the attack. His older brother, Armando Diaz, who was 52 at the time, was also shot but fortunately survived his injuries.
