On June 22, 2013, DeMario Warren, a 23-year-old African American man from Cleveland, OH, was fatally shot in a downtown Cleveland nightclub. The incident occurred outside Lounge 75 near 55 Public Square, where a large fight inside the club spilled out onto the street at closing time. The altercation escalated into gunfire, resulting in Warren being shot in the back and later dying at MetroHealth Medical Center. A 21-year-old woman was also injured in the ankle during the shooting.
