Amir Jamiel Kirby, an 18-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically died on December 28, 2015, in Columbus, Ohio. He was fatally shot while attempting to break into a home on Rodgers Avenue, north of West Broad Street. According to police reports, Kirby was shot by the homeowner who claimed he was defending himself during the attempted robbery. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., and Kirby was pronounced dead at the scene.
