Fausto Sosa, a 20-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, was tragically killed on February 1, 2016, in Trotwood, Ohio. Sosa had moved from New York to Ohio four years prior to escape the violence in his neighborhood. He was found shot to death inside a car along with Antoine Jones, a 16-year-old student at Kettering Fairmont High School. The car, a silver Cadillac, was discovered in a driveway on Curundu Avenue with several bullet holes and shell casings found both inside and outside the
vehicle.
The investigation by Trotwood police suggested that the shooting might have been drug-related. Semi-automatic handguns were used in the crime, and police believed that one to three other people might have been present at the time of the shooting. Despite extensive efforts, including interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, no new information was released by the police regarding arrests or suspects.
Fausto Sosa's death was a significant loss to his community, as he was known for his kind heart and love for people. He attended Franklin Monroe High School in Darke County and graduated in 2013. His mentor, Harve Bowman, who helped bring Sosa to Ohio, described him as a boy with a huge heart. A memorial service was held for Sosa on February 21, 2016, at Highland Brethren in Christ Church in West Milton, and his funeral took place in New York.
The case remains unsolved, and the families of both victims continue to seek justice for their loved ones.
