Christal Shaver, a 19-year-old woman from North Royalton, Ohio, tragically died on February 16, 2016. She was shot in the neck while inside the condominium of her boyfriend, Jeffrey Greiner, a 25-year-old North Royalton man. Initially, Greiner claimed that Shaver was shot from outside the condo by a bullet that entered through a window. However, he later admitted that he was the one who shot her.
According to reports, Greiner stated that the gun discharged accidentally while he was handling it and that he did not know it was loaded at the time.
Greiner was charged with murder in connection with Shaver's death. He was indicted on two counts of murder, one count of reckless homicide, two counts of felonious assault, and two counts of tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing and remains in custody with a half-million dollar bond.
The couple had been in a relationship and had plans to get married in the future. Neighbors reported no disturbances or arguments coming from Greiner's unit before the shooting. Shaver was transported to Southwest General Hospital, where she later died.
The case drew significant attention, and Greiner's pretrial hearing was set for a later date. The investigation revealed that Greiner and Shaver were alone in the condo when the incident occurred. The tragic death of Christal Shaver left her family and friends devastated, and the community continues to remember her.
