The incident occurred during a domestic dispute that escalated into a deadly confrontation. According to reports, Chester Collins was involved in a violent altercation with his wife, Amy Collins, 50, who claimed that Chester had been threatening her life and physically assaulting her throughout the day.
In a desperate attempt to seek help, Amy managed to sneak outside and call her daughter for assistance. Amy's daughter's boyfriend, Robert A. Miller, 29, and his father, Gary G. Miller, 52, both from Willow Wood, Ohio, responded to the call for help. When they arrived at the scene, Chester again threatened Amy with a handgun and ordered her to get into their pickup truck. As they pulled onto County Road 407, Robert and Gary confronted them. Gary attempted to get Amy out of the vehicle, but Chester refused, leading to a physical assault on Amy.
In response, Robert brandished a rifle and fired several shots through the windshield, striking Chester multiple times in the torso and head. Despite efforts by Lawrence County EMS to revive him, Chester was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident, and no arrests have been made at this time.
