Mark Anthony Williams, a 58-year-old male from Dayton, Ohio, tragically passed away on February 7, 2017. He was fatally shot during an attempted robbery outside the United Foods store on North Main Street in Dayton. Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing a male suspect, believed to be between 30 to 40 years old, wearing a black or charcoal-colored jacket, black sweats, and a black hat.
The suspect grabbed Williams moments before shooting him and then fled the scene on foot.
Following the shooting, Williams was rushed to Miami Valley Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next morning. The Dayton Police Department, along with Miami Valley Crime Stoppers, launched an investigation into the incident and offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Despite their efforts, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with Williams' death.
The investigation revealed that Williams had just exited the United Foods store after making a purchase when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect attempted to rob him, and during the altercation, Williams was shot. The police used a K-9 unit to track the suspect's whereabouts but were unable to apprehend him.
The Dayton community and Williams' loved ones have been deeply affected by his loss. Williams was remembered as a wonderful man who was loved by all who knew him. His obituary described him as a cherished family member and friend, and his passing left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him.
