Dr. George Quimby "Skip" Seese III, DO, a 59-year-old cardiologist from Dalton, Ohio, tragically died on November 13, 2017, after being shot multiple times in the parking lot of Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, OH. The incident was later determined to be a murder-suicide. Dr. Seese was shot by Michael Wood, a 50-year-old man who had a mutual love interest with Seese. Wood confronted Seese in the parking lot and opened fire at close range before taking his own life.

Seese was struck at least twice, with one bullet hitting his aorta, which led to his death despite immediate medical attention. The police investigation revealed that Wood had been stalking or harassing Seese prior to the shooting.
