In the spring of 2012, William Evans, a 62-year-old man, and his wife, Brenda Evans, were living a familiar life in their home on Lenox Street on Detroit's east side. Their lives, however, came to a brutal and sudden end on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012. The couple was discovered inside their residence, both having been fatally stabbed. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled their deaths as homicides.
