On July 18, 2018, Marcus Brown, a 27-year-old man from Cincinnati, OH, was tragically shot and killed in Forest Park. Brown was found in a grassy area outside a home on Komura Court, near Winton Woods High School. According to court documents, the suspects, Richard Copeland and Dawayne Grissom Jr., admitted to setting up a drug deal with Brown, intending to rob him.
Copeland wiped his fingerprints from the scene and stole Brown's phone, while Grissom admitted to attending the arranged drug deal with plans to rob the victim.
The investigation led to the arrest of Copeland and Grissom, both of whom were charged with aggravated murder. A third suspect, Byron Wright, was later indicted on aggravated murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery charges. Wright admitted to attending the drug deal with the intention of committing an aggravated robbery and fleeing the scene immediately after the shooting.
