Ettina J. Pepin, a 40-year-old woman from Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2018. She was born on May 31, 1978, to Ettienne A. and Cathy J. Rhea Pepin. Ettina is survived by her parents, a daughter named Breslin, a son named Jonah, and her brother Roger Pepin, all of whom reside in Chillicothe. She was predeceased by her grandparents, June and Pearl Rhea and Gaston and Gaynor Pepin, as well as her godparents, Emmett and Eileen Boyle, and several other family
members.
The circumstances surrounding Ettina's death were determined to be a murder-suicide. On the night of her death, police were called to a residence on Orange Street in Chillicothe after receiving a 911 call. Upon entering the residence, they discovered the bodies of Ettina Pepin and Dean R. Merriman, 60, both of whom had died from gunshot wounds. Autopsy results confirmed that both individuals died as a result of these wounds. In the 911 audio recording, Ettina can be heard pleading with Merriman to put the gun away. The police investigation concluded that there was no one else involved in the incident.
There have been no arrests, suspects, or ongoing litigations related to Ettina's death, as it was determined to be a murder-suicide involving only the two individuals found at the scene. The case was thoroughly investigated by the Chillicothe Police Department, and no further legal actions were taken.
