On December 14, 2018, Damond L. Duke, Sr., a 45-year-old African American man from Akron, OH, was fatally shot after being carjacked. The incident occurred in the 800 block of Brown Street around 9 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found Damond in the parking lot with a fatal gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim's car, a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, was stolen by an unknown male and later found at a nearby intersection. There was no identified motive for the crim ...
